<p style="text-align: left">Our world have experienced rapid shifts in the industrial structure within recent decades, including industrial composition and spatial distribution. Some industry groups have experienced growth while some other industry have experienced shrinking. Some industry groups have experienced spatial spread while other industry groups have experienced spatial concentration. Those changes will have significant impacts on global development and reshape the future global landscape, in terms of population, economy, politics, culture, and environment. This talk will discuss the theory and methodology for defining industry groups, available data, and some case studies for the spatial study of industry in the US and China. It will demonstrate how to identify those industrial structure changes in the US and China in terms of time and space. The future directions for the integration of government statistics, census data, business data, spatial data and big data as well as their applications will also be discussed.</p> |
