Measured by numbers of scientists and engineers, R&D spending, research papers, patents, use of advanced technology such as robotics, China has become #1 or #2 in the world. Measured by quality of its contributions, China has also risen to the forefront. In what ways can China apply its new comparative advantage in scientific and technical knowledge to solve its three great problems: the rural-urban divide, pollution and other environmental challenges, and inequality in income and wealth? </span></span></p> |
