<p>Economists usually use individual’s maximum willingness to pay (MWTP) to measure the economic value of a good or service. In early 1990s, Dr. Hua Wang proposed a concept of individual valuation distribution (IVD), which explicitly recognizes MWTP to be a random variable rather than a single number as traditionally assumed, and proposed a stochastic payment card (SPC) approach to estimate IVDs. In the past 30 years, the concept of IVD has been gradually accepted by the academics and the SPC approach has been applied to various valuation studies in the areas of public health, environmental and natural resources, urban infrastructure, etc.. In this seminar, Dr. Wang will present the stochastic economic valuation approach and the results of various empirical studies conducted in China, India, United States, and Armenia.</p>

主讲人简介 |
<p>Dr. Hua Wang used to be Senior Environmental Economist of the World Bank’s Development Research Group, Chief Expert in the Policy Research Center of China’s Ministry of Environmental Protection, Professor of Environmental Economics in Renmin University of China, Lecturer in Nanjing University’s Department of Environmental Sciences. Received his B.S. and M.S. in Nanjing University and M.S. and Ph.D. in the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is Founding President of the Chinese Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (CAERE).</p>
